Ask God
”Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks will receive, and anyone who seeks will find, and the door will be opened to him who knocks. Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone when he asks for bread? Or would you give him a snake when he asks for a fish? As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
Matthew 7:7-11
Here it states plainly to ask. It doesn’t say to repent, or to change your life style, or to stop doing this or that — which these things by and of themselves need to be confronted or dealt with at one time or another; but God our Father knows what we are up against on a daily basis and He knows what we are dealing with at any given time. In this passage of scripture, He wants us to turn to him — to go to Him. The verse states: Ask, Seek, and Knock. When we realize that we NEED God and that we NEED to turn to Him — God our Father responds to us in somewhat the same manner as a loving Father on earth would respond to their son or daughter. But of course, He is God, so His response would and will be on a higher level of love and understanding.
The Father wants to show us His devotion that He has toward His children and He wants to shower His love down upon us, right now, right at this very moment. He speaks very plainly here in these verses in the Bible and uses the analogy of a Father and son relationship. A family relationship. A parent toward a child. He even states, “as bad as you are”. That is — He is looking at us squarely right where we stand today. We who are sinners know how to show and express love and concern toward our earthly children. How much more will the Heavenly Father show and express His love toward His children who ask?
He wishes to demonstrate His love through us, in us, and before others. We need to follow His advice and ask. Just ask. Haven’t been praying like you should? Haven’t been following God’s principles like you should? Haven’t been reading your bible like you should? God loves us and while we were still sinners He sent his Son to die for us.
But God has shown us how much He loves us– it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us!
Romans 5:8
Ask God for help. Ask God when you have a need or a desire. Include Him in your pursuit of happiness, life, and your daily endeavors. Whether your religious or not. Whether you are a church goer or not. Whether you belong to this group or that group. Go to God and ask Him for advice; ask Him how to solve a problem; ask Him for ideas; ask Him for job security. Ask him for help with everyday issues. Present Him with your questions — no matter how trivial or how complex they may seem. We need God and God likes to hear from His children. We’ve been going at this life far too long on our own. Let’s start getting things right. Let’s start by Asking God.
If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.
John 14:14
Praise God that He is always there and that He will never forsake us; even when we have forsaken Him.
Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Let us be bold, then, and say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6
Just think! All you have to do is ASK.
Till the next time, this is the Voice of Joyce signing off…….
